What is CAMT.053?

CAMT.053 is an ISO 20022 bank-to-customer statement message. It can contain account statement balances, entries, transaction details, references, parties and remittance information in a nested XML structure.

How the conversion works

FinMessage identifies a document containing BkToCstmrStmt as camt.053, extracts available common business values and collects up to 100 populated leaf elements for the technical view. After reviewing the result, you can download an Excel workbook containing the readable summary and technical rows.

Single-message viewing or batch export?

The converter above is intended for inspecting one CAMT.053 message and exporting its common business and technical values. For one row per transaction, multiple statements in one upload and CSV exports, use the batch bank statement converter.

Need transaction-level output? Upload CAMT.053 statements for batch Excel or CSV export. The batch workflow handles multiple TxDtls under an entry. Review the output against the source XML before reconciliation or reporting.

CAMT.053 and MT940

Both formats can communicate account statement information. CAMT.053 uses structured ISO 20022 XML, while MT940 is a text-based SWIFT format with numbered fields. The structured XML can carry richer party and transaction details, but it also requires namespace-aware parsing.
